Routine Check Up
At Sandy Hill Dental Centre in Ottawa, we provide routine dental services, including checkups and cleaning appointments, for your children to foster a healthy mouth.
What will happen at my child’s routine check-up?
We note the health and condition of the teeth, gums, soft tissues, head and neck. We monitor the growth of the jaws and the development of the teeth. We can use all of these factors to create a custom treatment plan.
Our hygienists clean your child's teeth to remove any plaque or buildup.
We can also treat the teeth with fluoride to strengthen them and try and make them more resistant to tooth decay.
We recommend cleaning and fluoride treatments twice per year to prevent decay.
Do you teach my child how to brush or floss?
Prevention is a vital part of our children's dental treatment, so we try and teach the essentials for home dental care, such as brushing techniques. Our staff can try to make the oral health learning experience fun!
How often should my child come in for a check-up?
Your child should visit our office as often as you do, usually every six months. If you think your child needs to see the dentist for any other concerns, make sure to ask your dental health professional for advice.
